Mathematical and Physical Sciences

PHD PROGRAMME WEBSITE

The PhD program in Mathematical and Physical Sciences originates from the PhD in Computer Science, Mathemathics and Physics, aiming to strengthen post-graduate training in the areas of mathematics and physics. The skills of the teaching team guarantee PhD students the possibility of achieving a complete training enabling them highly qualified research activities in all disciplinary areas of mathematics and physics at universities, public bodies or private entities. PhD students will have the chance to reach a complete formation and be able to carry out highly qualified research activities in all disciplinary areas of mathematics and physics at universities, public bodies or private entities.

The training project covers both theoretical-formal and applicative aspects. PhD students are offered the opportunity to choose from a wide range of courses, designed to promote interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary training, as well as introduction to basic and applied research.

The participation of doctoral students in international schools and post-graduate courses will also be prominent and encouraged.

The versatility of the didactic offer allows the training of professionals with autonomy and critical skills. The employment and professional opportunities of PhDs will reach levels of excellence. Future PhDs will be able to pursue an academic career as a researcher or professor in Italy or abroad, or to aim a highly qualified role public and private companies which need modeling, management, computational and statistical analysis skills, or to start entrepreneurial activities in the area of applications of mathematics, physics and statistics.

They will also be able to hold crucial roles in economics and quantitative finance or can devote themselves to teaching at high schools.
