Description

The group's research themes can be summarised as: multimedia systems; systems for Web Intelligence. The goal for the first field is studying multimedia communications from a semiotic point of view, with an in-depth study as to the formulation of conceptual models (ontologies); the semantics of media digital objects; the annotation of still images and videos; the design of sound digital objects (sound design); the design and implementation of narrative hypertexts for applications in the field of cultural heritage. In the field of Web Intelligence, the research activity is about the analysis of Web 2.0 information sources and information extraction/classification; the analysis of the ‘sentiment’, with the application purpose of analysing market trends, social networks within the health environment, and more generally Web 2.0 social media.
