Banking and Finance

This program's main objective is to educate students for managerial and professional careers with deep specialization and knowledge in the area of financial intermediation. In particular the course aims at offering the technical language, methods and tools to allow participants to fill key roles in the management of financial institutions, together with a thorough knowledge of financial markets and the quantitative methods for evaluating complex financial contracts.

In the first year students will focus on quantitative (models for evaluating portfolios and risks; pricing methods for financial contracts under uncertainty), legal (law and regulation of financial intermediaries – banks and insurers – and on financial markets) and operational topics (supervision and accounting of intermediaries), together with the overall functioning of financial markets.

In the second year, participants learn in greater depth key aspects of managing banks and insurers, advanced corporate finance and computational aspects of more advanced financial contracts; this is completed by topics concerned with the background context (economic history and monetary policy).

This program prepares students to be specialists in financial activities and market analysis. It provides the necessary background to aspire to entrepreneurial roles and executive positions in banks, insurers and other financial institutions; key personnel in the finance and risk departments of both financial and non-financial enterprises.

During the program students will be offered the opportunity to participate to internships with financial institutions and to register in international enrollment and employment databases consulted by financial companies.

Graduates will be able to apply for managerial and professional roles in financial intermediaries (banks, insurers, financial companies) and also in non-financial enterprises. They will also be able to enter successfully in advising and consultancy firms in the financial market, or as a financial advisor, agent or broker (after passing the public examination required for some of these professions).
The program prepares for the profession of:
- Specialists in financial activities
- Market analysts
