Biomedical Laboratory Techniques

The Course trains professional health providers who can carry out the technical procedures needed for diagnostic methods on biological materials or on the person. Biomedical Laboratory Technicians work in analysis and research laboratories on biomedical and biotechnological analysis and in particular biochemistry, microbiology and virology, pharmacotoxicology and galenic pharmacology, immunology and immunometry, including techniques of radio-immunology, clinical pathology, hematology, genetics, cytopathology, histopathology, pathological anatomy and blood transfusion centers. During the Course, you will participate in internships at the laboratories of the University Hospital “Santa Maria della Misericordia” in Udine, and at the other Regional health facilities that have agreements with the University.

As a Biomedical Laboratory Technician, you will manage the correct functioning of the apparatuses used, carry out ordinary maintenance and eliminate minor problems. You will participate in planning and organizing the work in the structure where you work, and cooperate directly in research. You will work in public and private laboratories, as employees or freelancers, in the field of hygiene and preventative medicine, in Regional agencies for the environment, in the field of pharmacology and research laboratories.
