Training Project

Cycle XL

The Teaching Board approves the training project for each doctoral student.
The doctoral student's training project consists of:

  • in the development, under the guidance of the Supervisor, of an individual research program referring to a specific disciplinary field among those on which the Course is focused;
  • in the attendance of doctoral level teaching activities complementary to research not less than 20 CFU. The recognition of CFUs, which can be acquired by attending teaching and other educational activities, is carried out by the Board of Teachers, which authorizes the attendance and evaluates the outcomes. The teaching activities, which can also be organized jointly among several Courses, also include training activities aimed at supporting research activities and providing tools to outline the professional identity of future PhDs

The PhD course in Agricultural Science and Biotechnology provides for the acquisition of:

At least 14 CFU

  • with the attendance of tutorials conducted in the supervisor's laboratory concerning experimental techniques relevant to the conduct of the research project
  • with attendance (and passing of any final tests) of the school scheduled annually by the Board of Teachers of the doctoral course; the school takes place indicatively in the winter-spring period
  • with participation in the annual workshop of doctoral students in the agricultural area from the universities of CT, FG and UD; the workshop takes place indicatively in the summer period
  • by attending (and passing any final tests) courses/seminars in the relevant area and discipline organized by universities/research institutions/companies.

The Board of Teachers evaluates the suitability of these activities with respect to the training and research objectives
of the student and determines the number of credits to be awarded

At least 6 CFUs

  • by attending (and passing any final tests) cross-curricular courses/seminars, chosen from those scheduled annually by the University in all areas. The courses scheduled for the current year, with an indication of the CFUs awarded, are available at the link https://www.uniud.it/it/ricerca/bacheca-ricercatori/iniziativericerca
  • by attending (and passing any final exams) courses/seminars/conferences organized by the University or other universities/research institutions/companies. The Board of Teachers evaluates the suitability of these activities with respect to the student's educational and research objectives and determines the number of credits to be awarded

The individual research program concludes with the writing of the thesis.
The thesis, written in Italian or English, must contribute to the advancement of knowledge or methodologies in the chosen field of inquiry.

The Board of Teachers annually evaluates the training and research activities carried out by individual doctoral students for the purpose of admission to the following year and the thesis evaluation stage.
