Additional rules concerning admission for prospective students with foreign qualifications academic year 2023-2024

Attachment 1_Number of vacant places reserved for future students residing in countries outside the E.U. to be updated

Students residing abroad (in non-EU countries) must file their PRE-ENROLMENT application online, through the new UNIVERSITALY (www.universitaly.it/index.php/registration/firststep) web portal.

Admission to a Bachelor’s Degree Course

1) Choose the Bachelor’s Degree Course you are interested in Degree Courses UNIUD.

2) Follow the foreign qualification recognition procedure in order to have access to First Cycle Courses. The foreign high school assessment procedure will be considered valid only if it meets the following requirements:

a) it must be an official high school diploma from the reference foreign education system and must allow to enrol in first cycle degree courses; 
b) you must have obtained your high school qualification after at least 12 years of schooling; 
c) where a national exam or a final exam is required in order to access higher education in your Country of origin, the same will be required for Italian university courses.

Fill in the online form, which you can find at the web page: https://cimea.diplo-me.eu/udine/#/auth/login and click on the option [Statement of comparability - secondary school leaving qualification] (service cost 150 euro, service time 15 working days);alternatively, a Declaration of value may be accepted*.

3) After obtaining the Statement of comparability, which allows you to enrol in university courses, follow the admission procedures provided for the degree course you selected. Information on admission/enrolment rules and regulations, deadlines, tests is listed in the Prospectus, which is published every year in June.

Admission to a Master’s Degree

1) Choose the Master’s Degree Course that you are interested in Degree Courses UNIUD

2) Follow the procedure for foreign qualification recognition in order to have access to Second Cycle Degree Courses: it is necessary to get a Statement of comparability of your foreign qualification in order to have access to Master’s Degree Courses. The procedure is a necessary requirement by means of which the Teaching Committee, of the course you wish to enrol on, will evaluate your application. You will obtain the Statement of comparability only if your foreign qualification meets the following requirements:

a) it must be an official First Cycle Degree qualification released by your foreign education system’s official institution; 
b) it must be a foreign qualification that permits access to Second Cycle Degree Courses; 
c) your qualification must be provided with practical and disciplinary elements that correspond to elements of the Italian qualification required for access.

3) After obtaining the Statement of comparability, which will allow you to have access to Master’s Degree Courses, please contact the University Mobility and International Relations Office by sending an email studenti@uniud.it and attach the following documents: 

a) Application form click here
b) Statement of comparability of the foreign university qualification, issued by Cimea, or Declaration of value, issued by Italian diplomatic authorities abroad
c) Transcript of records of your foreign First Cycle Degree
d) Syllabus** of your foreign First Cycle Degree
e) Copy of a valid identity document: ID/Passport

** detailed description of studied subjects.

The attached documents will be forwarded to the Teaching Committee in charge in order to evaluate the admission criteria listed in the study plan of the Master’s Degree Course you selected. You will be informed of the results of your application within one month.

4) When the Mobility and International Relations Office will notify you of the positive results of the Teaching Committee evaluation, follow the required admission procedures of the Degree Course you chose. Information on admission/enrolment rules and regulations, deadlines, tests is listed in the Prospectus, which is published every year in June.

Admission to a Single Cycle Degree

1) Choose the Single Cycle Degree Course among those offered by the University of Udine.

2) Follow the procedure for foreign qualification recognition in order to have access to Single Cycle Degree Courses: remember that the procedure does not transform your foreign qualification in an Italian one but allows evaluation of your foreign high school diploma. In order to obtain a Statement of comparability your foreign qualification has to meet the following requirements:

a) it must be an official high school diploma released by the reference foreign institution;
b) it must be a qualification that permits access to First Cycle Degree Courses;
c) you must have obtained your diploma after at least 12 years of schooling; 
d) where a national exam or a final exam is required in order to access higher education in your country of origin, the same will be required for Italian university courses.

Information on admission/enrolment rules and regulations, deadlines, tests is listed in the Prospectus, which is published every year in June.

Admission to a PhD 

1) Choose the PhD that you are interested in Ph.d. programmes UNIUD.

2) Follow the procedure for foreign qualification recognition in order to have access to Third Cycle Degree Courses. It is required that you have your foreign study qualification evaluated in order to apply for a PhD. Remember that the procedure does not transform your foreign qualification in an Italian one, but it is a necessary requirement by means of which the Teaching Committee, of the course you wish to enrol on, in will evaluate your application. You will obtain the Statement of comparability only if your foreign qualification meets the following requirements:

a) it must be an official Second Cycle Degree qualification released by an official institution of your foreign university system; 
b) it must be a qualification that allows for application to Italian Third Cycle Degree Courses, sharing the same academic features of your reference foreign university system;
c) it must be a qualification provided with practical and disciplinary elements that must correspond to the elements of the Italian qualification, required for admission.

3) After obtaining the Statement of comparability, which allows you to have access to PhD Courses, follow the online admission procedures on the “Research Doctorate” web page.

Admission to an Italian 1st or 2nd Master Course (specialization courses after a bachelor or a master degree)

1) Choose the Master Course you are interested in Master Courses UNIUD.

2) Follow the foreign qualification recognition procedure in order to have access to Master Course. The foreign high school assessment procedure will be considered valid only if it meets the following requirements:

a) it must be an official First Cycle Degree qualification (for access to a 1st master course) or Second Cycle Degree (for access to a 2nd Master course) released by your foreign education system’s official institution; 
b) it must be a foreign qualification that permits access to First or Second Cycle Degree Courses (based on the Master course of interest); 
c) your qualification must be provided with practical and disciplinary elements that correspond to elements of the Italian qualification required for access.
