Discover Friuli Venezia Giulia Region!!
There is just so much to see and do in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Cultural sites? Cividale is hard to beat, with its Longobard treasures, but there's also Villa Manin, near Codroipo, where Napoleon stayed before signing the Treaty of Campoformido (you can see his bed!), Palmanova, the star-shaped fortified town, and the Roman remains at Aquileia.
If you like nature, there's the beautiful unspoilt countryside of hills and valleys, where you can eat local food and drink local wine for next to nothing at the “frasche” or village “sagre”.
But there are also the mountains with their Alpine lakes and with a vast range of sporting facilities to offer. And of course, there is also the sea where you can swim, sail, kite surf, wind surf, canoe, do water aerobics or snorkeling (the Trieste coast is best for this), bodyboarding, jet ski, beach volleyball - or simply laze on the beach.
If you want to venture further afield, you can visit other countries: Austria, Slovenia and Croatia are nearby and easily reached by public transport.
