Contents

Interventions in existing buildings: an outlook
It will be discussed the role of the analytical disciplines as knowledge instruments for the project in the sector of building renovation and architectural restoring. (8 hours)

The knowledge of the building
Surveys in existing buildings: analysis of geometry, dimensions, typology and building techniques. (12 hours)

The knowledge of building materials and weathering features
It will be discussed technical chacteristics of building material and causes and effects of the main decay and weathering process, as related to activating phenomena. (12 hours)

Interventions techniques in existing buildings
It will be discussed intervention techniques for maintenance, recovery and functional renovation of buildings. Relevant case studies, in different locations and periods, will be analyzed. 8 Exercises Thesis review (12 hours)
