Obiettivi formativi specifici/Objectives

The course has two main objectives:
1) Deepening the basic knowledge elements of management control through the illustration and the use of the main instruments of planning and control;
2) Deepening the basic concepts of corporate finance, the main instruments for managing corporate finance (analysis and forecast), even for equity evaluation.

Competenze acquisite/Acquired skills

- Acquisition of operative methods and tools for using a control system management.
- Acquisition of operative methods and tools for financial analysis and planning.

Programma/Lectures and exercises

Management control system: fundamental characteristics of the management control systems (2 hours).
Cost analysis: analysis and classification of industrial costs; use of costs for economic management decisions (Break Even Point analysis, analysis of economic convenience, mix choices, make or buy choices) (6 hours).
Costing Systems: accounting and analysis of cost related to business organization and production system; tracing and allocations of costs; types and use of cost driverss (10 hours).
Financial Analysis: differences between economic and financial profitability; the role of corporate finance within organization, the interface with other operational functions and relationships with the banking systems (4 hours).
Financial Equilibrium: quantitative financial analysis; meaning and use of ratios and flows; business cases; impact on financial stock and flows of the different management areas, cash flow statement (8 hours).
Equity and enterprise value: main methods of equity valuation; economic and financial performance indicators; best practices in measuring enterprise and equity value (4 hours).
Funding: funding instruments and tools in relation to assets structure; main tools offered by the banking system, bond and stock (4 hours).
Budgeting: introduction to budgeting, from strategic planning to master budget, operating budget and financial budget; case studies to introduce the techniques of preparation of different budget types (8 hours).
Reporting: the reporting to management as the end point of management control; analysis of variances; static and flexible budget;  effect of volumes, efficiency and price changes (4 hours).
Exercises (10 hours).
