When we communicate evidence, whether that’s within the research community or to the public, how should we approach issues such as our uncertainties, the limitations of our knowledge, or conflicting opinions? What is the difference between aiming to be trusted, and communicating in a trustworthy manner? Does it matter if you’re working in an area that has implications for public health or highly contested research? Dr. Alexandra Freeman of the Winton Centre for Risk & Evidence Communication at the University of Cambridge, UK, talks about some of the empirical evidence - and the lack of it - around these difficult and widely applicable areas.
