Civil Engineering

The Master's degree course in Civil Engineering trains professionals capable of setting up and carrying out even complex design activities, making use of the most innovative methodologies and technologies in relevant fields. Graduates in Civil Engineering have a wide range of knowledge and skills, allowing them to acquire their own ability to analyze and solve advanced problems, with consequent qualified opportunities to enter the world of work, as well as of research and development.

The Master's in Civil Engineering is structured on two levels:
- a common training in the core disciplines of civil engineering (theory of structures, dynamics of structures, computational mechanics of structures, constructions in seismic zones, metal constructions, planning structures, structural renewal, preservation and restoration of buildings) and similar (architecture and architectural composition, for example);
- separate training chosen by the student, so that you can study more deeply the disciplines of civil constructions (hydraulic constructions), topography, continuum mechanics (non-linear dynamics, computational mechanics of structures, mechanics of fractures, dynamic experimentation and structural identification, theory of structures), structural disciplines (constructions in seismic zones, construction of bridges), construction techniques (complements of technical architecture, plans for building renewal, building techniques in developing countries), building production (organization of the building site), composition (distributive characters of buildings), history of architecture (history of architectural techniques), civil plant engineering (technical plants, management of the project,  management elements of the project), territorial planning (territorial engineering, territorial planning, techniques of urban assessment and planning), and analysis (elements of numerical calculation).
After graduation you will be able to work in important positions, both freelance and in enterprises and public administrations, also on a European level, combining technical and engineering capacities and knowledge with organizational and coordination skills. The main employment opportunities are in construction enterprises, plants and civil infrastructures, professional firms and Companies designing works, plants and infrastructures, public offices designing, planning, managing and controlling urban and territorial systems, Companies, consortia and agencies managing and controlling works and services, service Companies that study the feasibility of the urban and territorial impact of infrastructures.

The Magister graduate in Civil Engineering is a professional with an adequate knowledge of the methodological and operative aspects of mathematics and other basic sciences and engineering, and an in-depth knowledge of the sciences of civil engineering. He/she is therefore able to interpret, describe and solve autonomously, with up-to-date and innovative instruments, complex civil engineering problems or problems that require an inter-disciplinary approach. The Magister graduate in Civil Engineering is therefore able to work at the highest levels both freelance and in enterprises and public administrations, also on a European level, combining technical and engineering capacities and knowledge with organizational and coordination capacities.

The main employment opportunities are in:
a. construction enterprises and maintenance of works, plants and civil infrastructures;
b. professional firms and Companies designing works, plants and infrastructures;
c. public offices designing, Planning, managing and controlling urban and territorial systems;
d. Companies, bodies, consortia and agencies managing and controlling systems of works and services;
e. service Companies that study the feasibility of the urban and territorial impact of infrastructures.
