Geotechnics part 1 (Geotecnica)

Programma dell'insegnamento di Geotechinics part 1 (Geotecnica) - cdl in Ingegneria Civile

Teacher

prof. Roberto MERIGGI

Credits

6 CFU

Objectives

The aim of the course is to illustrate the main principles of soil mechanics an soil hydraulic and allow the students to know and use the methods to study water seepage in the soil and its interaction with hydraulic structures,to compute soil settlement due to consolidation phenomena, to know and use the methods to measure soil shear stength and deformability by laboratory and in situ tests.

Acquired skills

- To measure and use soil classification sistems
- To use a flow net and analyses seepage trough a geotechnical structure.
- To compute the stress state in the soil in hydrostatic and hydrodinamic conditions
- To compute the consolidation settlements and their temporal occurrance
- To know the principles of soil shear strength and the laboratory methods for its measurement.
- To know the purposes of in situ investigation and the main methods of in situ testing
