Maintaining genome integrity is essential for cells to survive. Chromosome aberrations, mutations, and DNA damage can cause genomic instability

BRCA1 is a gene that has diverse functions in repairing DNA damage, cell cycle control, transcription regulation, and ubiquitination. Besides, it is an extremely important tumor suppressor. As a result of accumulating genome instability and other changes, BRCA1 deficiency causes severe cellular stress in the mammary glands. Its mutation is associated with breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility. On chromatin, BRCA1 interacts with a network of DNA repair proteins to suppress tumors. Mutations in BRCA1 cause a deficiency in HR-mediated DNA repair, genomic instability, and hypersensitivity to DNA-damaging agents.
In our study, we try to unravel novel molecular pathways in which BRCA1 gets involved in developing cancer.
